When to Book Your Greensboro Newborn Session

Client Guides, Newborn

Welcoming a new baby into the world is one of the most special and unforgettable experiences. As a parent, you want to capture every little detail, especially during those precious early days. Newborn photography offers a beautiful way to freeze time, preserving the sweetness of your baby when they are tiny and new. But one of the most common questions parents have is: When should you book your newborn photography session? As a newborn photographer in Greensboro, I am sharing a few tips on how to best prepare and when to book your session.

Timing is Everything

I recommend scheduling your newborn photography session within the first three weeks of your baby’s life. During this period, babies are still very sleepy and tend to curl up into those adorable poses you see in many newborn photos. Their tiny features, delicate skin, and peaceful expressions are something you’ll want to remember forever. Capturing them during this phase ensures you get those timeless photos where they still look like they’ve just arrived from a dreamy place.

That said, every family and baby is different. Some parents feel ready to schedule a session just days after their baby is born, while others may need a little more time to adjust. If you feel like you need an extra week or two to settle into your new routine, that’s perfectly okay! While the first 21 days are ideal, beautiful moments can still be captured at any stage of their early life.

Preparing for the Session

Once your session is scheduled, preparation is key to making sure things go smoothly. First, plan to have your baby well-fed and comfortably dressed before the session starts. A full tummy makes for a sleepy, happy baby, which is perfect for those serene newborn photos. If possible, keep them in a loose outfit that’s easy to remove without waking them. This allows for quick wardrobe changes, whether we’re keeping things simple with wraps and blankets or dressing them in a special outfit you’ve chosen.

Also, remember that newborn sessions can take time. Patience is crucial; we’ll work on your baby’s schedule, with plenty of breaks for feeding, changing, and cuddling. I aim to create a relaxed, comfortable environment so both you and your little one feel at ease throughout the session.

When to actually Book your Session

As a busy Greensboro newborn photographer, I often only take on a handful of newborns each month. So reaching out in your second to third trimester would definitely give you the best opportunity for getting a spot on my calendar. I get questions like “how can we schedule the session if we don’t know when the baby will arrive?” Great question! When you reserve your session with me, I put your due date on my calendar, and then as we get closer to the due date, or once baby is hear, reach out and we will find a date that works for both of our schedules.

Whether you are expecting or just welcomed a new baby into your family, reach out to your photographer soon to schedule your session.
